This title has been awarded by converting to renewable energy sources throughout the facility along with converting the airport bus fleet to compressed natural gas vehicles in addition to many other local improvements. DFW has been upgraded to “Level 3+ Neutrality" by the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program, this is the highest level for environmental improvements available to airports and comes following nearly twenty years of environmental work and modifications at the airport.
The progress has been startling with carbon emissions down almost 30% on a per passenger basis since 2010 and even larger percentage reductions in energy costs nearing 40%. All of these achievements against a backdrop of passenger traffic growing by 15% over the same period and air freight also growing during that time period.
These are truly outstanding environmental results for a huge and vital airport which serves as a key location for both our air freight and expedited freight services in the region and across North America.
